COURSE DESCRIPTION
Yoga dates back over 5,000 years ago from the small Indian village of Rishikesh at foothills of the Himalaya. The science of yoga is built on the union of exercise, breathing and meditation. In addition, yoga has become a philosophy and way of living for many around the globe. This course is about the birth and evolution of yoga .

COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Understand the evolution of yoga in India.
- Students study the roots of where and how yoga first began in India and how it integrated into Indian culture and society.
- Survey the different schools and paths of yoga.
- Practice the traditional series of Hath Yoga asanas and learn how these postures have evolved.
- Understanding yoga as a holistic approach to medicine.
- Learn how the tradition of yoga has changed with its migration to Western cultures.
