Through hands-on experience in a global setting, gain an in-depth understanding of topics in health and medicine. At Broadreach, the subjects of health and medicine are intertwined with the programmatic themes of emergency medicine, alternative medicine, community health and emerging trends in epidemiology. Spend time shadowing health professionals in hospitals and clinics. Learn to stabilize a spinal injury and treat hypothermia. Work with university researchers and local public health experts to develop your disease and epidemiological research skills. Explore how the wider social, cultural and economic context impacts health at the local level. Whether you are mastering your wilderness first responder skills in the backcountry or practicing traditional Ayurveda medicinal techniques in India, you will move beyond the classroom to develop your awareness of the vast field of medicine.

Broadreach offers 70+ global education and skill-building summer adventures in 40+ countries for middle school, high school and college students. That’s a lot of different types of programs, and it can be overwhelming to try to figure out exactly where to begin. To make your search easier and more focused, we’ve hand-selected a few programs that are ideal for those new to Broadreach. They require no specific experience of any kind, just genuine curiosity and a willingness to allow your horizon to be blown wide open. You can bet on lots of fun and adventure, but it’s the valuable skills and knowledge you bring home that will have a lasting impact.

Each of the programs here perfectly embodies our unique approach to learning through hands-on experiences out in the real world. Every Broadreach student will earn a combination of community service hours and internationally recognized certifications as proof of their achievements. You may also choose to earn college credit through Lesley University on many programs.

Sure, Alex Rodriguez acted like a petulant teenager when he angrily stormed out of his scheduled grievance hearing Wednesday afternoon in New York over the arbitrator's decision that Selig won't be forced to testify. ("This is f---ing bulls---!" A-Rod reportedly said as he pointed a finger at MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred.)
